Lässt sich "Multitasking" eigentlich noch steigern ? Falls ja, beschreibt es genau, was Vanessa Hudgens das letzte Jahr getan hat. Die 19-Jährige spielte nicht nur in dem Film "High School Musical", der eine schon sektiererisch anmutende Fangemeinde sowie einen Soundtrack, der auf Platz # 1 der Billboard Charts landete, nach sich zog - Vanessa startete ganz nebenbei auch noch ihre Solo-Karriere ...
"Ich bin unheimlich gespannt", erzählt Vanessa, "die letzte Zeit war wie ein Wirbelwind." Und das ist noch zurückhaltend ausgedrückt. Kaum konnte sie sich ein bisschen über den Erfolg von "High School Musical" freuen, wurde ihr auch schon ein Plattenvertrag mit Hollywood Records angeboten. In weniger als zwei Monaten nahm sie ihr erstes Album auf. Ursprünglich sollte es ein Dance-Album werden, aber dann entschied sich Vanessa für eine Mischung von Pop, Rock, Elektronik und R&B - schließlich steht der Titel "V" auch für Vielfalt. "Die Songs waren schon in meinem Kopf", erzählt Vanessa, "also hab ich es einfach fließen lassen."
Die Songs entwickelten ein Eigenleben. Während es auf ihrer ersten Single "Come Back to Me" um eine vorzeitig abgebrochene Liebesbeziehung geht, handelt "Whatever Will Be" vom Leben im Hier und Jetzt. "Dies beschreibt mich als Person, es ist nämlich auch mein Lebensmotto", erklärt Vanessa. "Say OK" handelt von dem Druck, der unter Gleichaltrigen ausgeübt wird, und besonders von einem Jungen, der nicht nur die edelsten Absichten hat. Als sie sich das erste Mal "Afraid" anhörte, faszinierte sie dieser Zustand kurz vor einer neuen Beziehung bei der man aber Angst hat, wieder verletzt zu werden. Der Song "Promise" erinnert die Hörer daran, dass es in Ordnung ist, und zwar wirklich in Ordnung ist, so zu sein wie man ist. Und wenn das jemandem nicht passt, dann hat der eben Pech gehabt.
Mit ihren Eltern und ihrer jüngeren Schwester Stella verbrachte Vanessa ihre Jugend in Salinas, Kalifornien, mit Tanz, Klavier und Gesang - und zwar Operngesang. Ihre Ausbildung brachte ihr Rollen unter anderem in "Carousel", "Der König und ich", in der Faust-Musical-Adaption "Damn Yankees" und dem "Zauberer von Oz". Auf der Kinoleinwand tauchte sie zum ersten Mal mit Holly Hunter und Evan Rachel Wood in dem Film "Dreizehn" auf.
"Es hat etwas Magisches, wenn man die Bühne betritt", erzählt Vanessa, die Sängerinnen wie Celine Dion und Christina Aguilera bewundert. "Sobald ich anfange zu singen, fühle ich mich wie zuhause." Und zuhause ist es ja bekanntlich am schönsten. Nach der erfolgreichen HSM Tour durch Amerika und den Planungen und Aufnahmen zu HSM 2, lässt sich Vanessa auch bald in Europa blicken.
Trotz ihres Erfolgs hebt Vanessa nicht ab. Da sie weiß, dass sie mit dem enormen Erfolg von "High School Musical" viele unerschütterliche Fans gewonnen hat, nimmt sie ihre Rolle als Vorbild sehr ernst. "Viele Kids halten sich heutzutage an schlechte Vorbilder und können richtig und falsch nicht unterscheiden. Für mich ist es eine Ehre, ein Vorbild zu sein."
Vanessa hat es nicht darauf abgesehen, ein Superstar zu werden und freut sich einfach über ihren Erfolg. "Ich weiß, das ich eines Tages glücklich sterben werde, weil das tue, was mir wirkliche Freude macht", erzählt Vanessa ganz außer Atem. "Gott hat mich wirklich gesegnet und meine Eltern haben mich unglaublich gefördert. Ich glaube, dass Erfolg viel mit dem Karma zu tun hat, und damit, dass man einfach Glück gehabt hat."
Glück gehabt? Vielleicht. Aber bei Vanessa kommt noch eine Menge Talent und Eifer
